OMBRO THE LEGACY
Ombro was started over 20 years ago by Micheal Lunjevich. Michael was a stone mason and marble statue artist by trade , he found the physical demands of working with stone strenuous and taxing on the body. Therefore he started working with leather and making handmade leather belts which lead him into designing his own range of leather wallets and grew the company from inception in his home country of New Zealand. Michael does events all over NZ, he has his own workshop in rural Northland, where he resides today. Ombro is a local and family business which has expanded into Australia where we operate a retail outlet in Coolangatta and continue to do markets in Queensland and New South Wales.

Majan Evangelista (“Mayan”) – The New Generation
Majan Evangelista, known as “Mayan,” represents the new generation of Ombro Leather. Working closely with her father Michael in New Zealand, she has played a key role in both the creative and business sides of the brand. From a young age, Majan was involved in designing and selling Ombro products at local markets, developing a deep passion for leather craftsmanship.
Today, Majan creates her own leather pieces, including belts, and has contributed to the design of several Ombro wallets and bags. Having learned the craft from her father, she brings a fresh and creative perspective while staying true to the brand’s heritage.
Majan is also a dedicated mother of two. Her son, Lanu, is a keen fisherman and loves surfing, while her daughter, Inda, enjoys dance and gymnastics. During the week, Majan balances family life with behind-the-scenes work—managing admin, organising events, overseeing stock, and helping design new products, including Ombro’s RFID-protected wallet range. On weekends, she runs market stalls across the Gold Coast and Northern NSW.
